Kwale County Government has set aside Sh400 million as bursaries to be issued to needy students in 2018.
Kwale County Government Executive Committee Member in charge for the Education, Mr. Munga Mangale said that some 718 Form One students who got admissions in national schools in the country have already received their scholarships.
He said the number of students from Form One to Form Four in the county who have been admitted in national schools is currently 3,800.
He said needy students in national schools have received Sh55, 000 as bursaries.
Mangale also revealed that those students who got admissions in both county and district secondary schools will equally benefit from the bursary kitty to enable them pursue education.
He said that there will be no single bright secondary school student from a poor family in the region who will stay at home due to lack of school fees.
“You should therefore take time and apply for bursaries for your school children”, the Executive Committee Member told parents.
Meanwhile, Mangale has said that all Youth polytechnic students in the county will each receive a whole year full scholarship of Sh12, 000.
He urged parents in the area to enroll their children in large numbers who completed Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at youth Polytechnics near them.
He noted that Youth Polytechnics play an important role in the country that of preparing the youth for future self employment.
