By Benedict Ng’etich

The youth in Kericho County have been challenged to leverage the digital space as a tool to offer solutions to the rising state of unemployment in the county.

Speaking during the official launch of a two-day Ajira Digital training held at Kericho town e-Citizens Service Centre, Ag. CECM in charge of ICT, E-Government, Gender, Sports and Youth Affairs Hon. Judith Chirchir and her Chief Officer Mr. Geoffrey Bett reiterated the county’s commitment to ensuring that the one million youth being targeted by the Ajira Digital program is met.

The training, facilitated by the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy in partnership with the county seeks to introduce the youth to digital jobs as well as provide them with needed tools, training and mentorship to work and earn a livelihood.

According to Mr. Bett, the programme will revolutionize the digital landscape by exposing the youth to millions of productive opportunities from the internet.

However, he warned the youth to shun abusing the digital space with destructive and illegal engagements.

According to the programme’s South Rift Regional Coordinator Nelson Mitei, the programme is offered free of charge and appealed to the youth to take advantage of the training.
