County Govt told: Start feeding programme to keep pupils in school

Restoration of Life Centre Bishop Henry Omae has called on the County Government to introduce feeding programme in all schools in Kajiado North Sub County.
The bishop said introduction of the feeding programme is the only way to keep children from poor families in schools.
He said most families are suffering silently in the slums with children not reporting to school and called on well-wishers to donate what they can in order to keep them in school.
Nkaimurunya’s Kware slum is among big slums in Kajiado County with a big number of children dropping out of schools who end up in crime while others do poorly in education due to poverty. The slum also faces floods when it rains.
The bishop was speaking after leading visitors from Holland in donating clothing and other items to Kware slum poor families.
The visitors Jolanda Kanter and Laura who were in the country for the first time expressed interest of supporting the children in future in ensuring they prosper in life. Children in Gataka School also benefited from the donations.
Speaking after donation, Jolanda said they will mobilize other well-wishers overseas to support the children.
They also promised to market local products such as jewelries, baskets and other items made locally by women from Kware slums. Most women make the items but they have no market for them locally or abroad.
