Uasin Gishu County Director of Education (CDE), Khalif Issack Hassan, has said that the county has achieved 100 percent student transition.

According to Hassan, all students who sat KCPE transited to Form One.

“In Uasin Gishu County, we have achieved 100 percent transition where all students who sat KCPE have joined Form One,” said the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education

However, Hassan said public Junior Secondary Schools had recently faced a myriad of challenges in the first term including; inadequate facilities such as laboratories, inadequate teachers and insufficient learning materials but the issue has been solved.

“Our Sub-county Directors met with head teachers from various schools within the county for the training of the TSC registered teachers. They have now started working and learning has commenced in the Junior Secondary Schools,” said the CDE.

He also assured that the government will provide textbooks for junior secondary school students.

“Out of the Sh 15,000 issued by the government to each pupil in the Junior Secondary, Kshs 5000 will be used for infrastructural development while the rest will solve other challenges faced by students,” Khalif said.

He said over 800 teachers in Uasin Gishu County have been deployed and 430 assigned to the Junior Secondary Schools

“I thank all stakeholders who have ensured full transition in our schools. As of now teaching and learning activities have successfully resumed in all Junior Secondary Schools in Uasin Gishu,” Khalif said.
