Countdown to KJSEA: JSS exams kick off on Monday

The Kenya National Examinations Council has released the official 2025 KJSEA timetable, with Grade 9 exams scheduled from October 27 to November 5.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released the official timetable for the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

The national examinations for Grade 9 learners will begin on Monday, October 27, 2025, and conclude on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The assessments mark the second national KJSEA under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), replacing the traditional KCPE exam and forming part of the learners’ transition to senior school in January 2026.

All KJSEA candidates will report to their examination centres on Friday, October 24, for mandatory rehearsals, during which learners will be briefed on examination conduct, centre regulations, and security protocols.

Supervisors and invigilators will ensure that seating plans, registration details, and candidate index numbers are properly verified. According to KNEC, the rehearsal also gives schools a chance to address any logistical or technical challenges before the written papers begin the following Monday.

Attached is the timetable.

The KJSEA will officially begin with English Language papers on Monday, October 27. Candidates will sit for English Language (901/1) from 8.30am to 10.10am, English Language (Hearing Impaired) from 8.30am to 10.20am, and English Language (Braille) from 8.30am to 10.40am. After a short break, they will proceed with English Composition and Literary Skills from 11.10am to 1:25pm.
