Counselors, Psychologists to be registered and licensed, says Board

Ministry of Health Counselors and Psychologists Board

The Ministry of Health Counselors and Psychologists Board of Kenya now wants the professionals to be registered and licensed to foster a collaborative environment and enhance service delivery.

The board is set for a major consultative meeting for professionals from the counseling and psychology field today.

The Board has invited all its stakeholders to a virtual consultative meeting slated for August 1, 2023, at 4:00 pm

This will bring Counselors and Psychologists together to discuss and provide their valuable insights on the registration and licensing processes.

The Board is mandated to regulate and streamline the provision of psychological services and entrench good corporate governance, enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, and increase value for money to the service delivered to the public.

For this reason, the Board aims to create a comprehensive framework that ensures the highest standards in the profession.

In a circular dated July 29, the Board wishes to execute its full mandate which includes, registering and licensing of counselors and psychologists upon payment of prescribed fees, among other functions through the meeting.

Its other roles include administering such examinations as may be necessary to determine whether persons are qualified for registration, approving courses for purposes of registration of counselors and psychologists, planning, arranging, co-ordinating, and overseeing continuing professional training and development, and facilitating the internship of trainee counselors and psychologists.

Also, the Board collaborates with training institutions, professional, associations, professional organizations, and other relevant bodies in matters relating to the training and professional development of counselors and psychologists.

To confirm attendance, stakeholders will be required to prior register using the link: https://echo.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwod-uspjosHNSia-i0mB7upkiPfJhlqt0V or contact Admin-Leah Abura – CPB.health22@gmail.com or by calling 0748655769.
