Counselors, medical practitioners urged to care for street children

Professional counselors and medical practitioners within Nakuru county have been urged to visit children homes and rescue centres within the county to offer guidance and counseling services  to thousands of children living in such homes.

Dr Pamela Ngesa, the Director of Love for All Endowment Foundation Centre and Outreach, revealed that many children living in children homes need guidance and counseling services especially from professionals to boost their morale in life.

“Some of these children are from broken families. Some were on the streets before coming to these children homes hence they need to guided and counseled to boost their morale,” Dr Ngesa said.

Speaking at Baruti ward in Nakuru county, Dr Ngesa noted that both boys and girls  are equally affected  by issues like early pregnancies and drug abuse hence the need to guide and counsel them.

She noted that there have been cases of such children shining in various fields after receiving guidance and counseling services.

Dr Ngesa said all children are gifts from God and that through care and guidance and counseling, they can all be instrumental people in the society in future.

She urged Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance and other medical organizations to regularly visit children homes and offer medical health services to children living in children homes.

“These children need adequate medical care to make them have healthy lives,” she added.

She also urged the County Government of Nakuru to give full sponsorship to some of the bright children living in children homes to enable them continue their academic journeys.

She further encouraged successful people in the society to frequently visit children homes to motivate children living in children homes to enable them valued.

Many children living in children homes are from slums within Nakuru County like Kampembwa, Kivumbini, Lake View, Kwa Rhoda, Flamingo, Bondeni.
