In a significant boost to education in Bomet County, the Cooperative Bank of Kenya, Bomet Branch, has awarded fully paid bursary slots to five bright but needy students who will be joining Grade 10 this year.
The initiative, aimed at supporting talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds, complements the full and partial scholarships already offered by the Bomet County Government.
The County’s Department of Education will soon issue guidelines to residents on how to apply for these coveted bursary slots.
Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok lauded the move, saying it reflects a strong partnership between the private sector and the county government in ensuring access to quality education for all.
“I am grateful to Cooperative Bank of Kenya, Bomet Branch, for investing in the future of our children. Such initiatives give hope to bright students whose potential might otherwise go untapped due to financial constraints,” the Governor said.
The bank’s management, led by Branch Manager Kelvin Korir, also made a courtesy call to the governor, underscoring their commitment to community development through education.
“This bursary award marks another step forward in the county’s drive to nurture talent and ensure that no bright student is left behind due to financial limitations.” He said
