Ainamoi Member of Parliament has disclosed that all students in day schools from the Constituency will automatically benefit from bursaries under the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

In a message seen by many as a New Year gift to many families, local legislator Benjamin Lang’at,  said all local day scholars will be eligible to benefit from the bursary and will not be needed to fill any application forms.

The notice read, “Students in Day Schools within the Constituency will not be required to apply for the Bursary; they will all benefit. The forms will be available from 18th December 2023, to 12th January 2024. They will be available in all Cyber Cafes in the constituency.”

The other beneficiaries of the bursary forms include those needy students enrolled in Boarding Schools, and those in Colleges and Universities.

In the new form, the Ainamoi NG-CDF has given the day school Principals the sole responsibility of generating the lists of all the students in their respective institutions for purposes of allocating them the financial aid.

At an earlier function, the MP revealed his team will be taking the list of students in day schools and channel  the bursary funds to their school accounts and added the new idea came about after his team noticed that several needy families failed to fill the necessary forms due to the numerous and sometimes complex requirements required to access the bursaries.

The legislator who was speaking at the Township Secondary School during a development tour of the institution said,” it has come to our attention that several needy children fail to get the NG-CDF bursaries due to what many find as complicated requirements demanded in the application forms. There is a need to find a solution that will make the funds be of benefit to all the deserving cases.”

The legislator told parents that the new system will eradicate complaints arising out of the bursary award scheme and enables many students to benefit from the Government support.

He challenged principals, teachers, parents and students of the school to invest more in improving the overall performance and strive to transition more students to the University.

“Education is the best method that can uplift that the standard of living of students from poor backgrounds to higher levels. Even me personally, I came from a humble background and right now I can testify that education has really transformed my life, “he added.
