Conservancy delivers new ECDE centre to celebrate World Tourism Day

Leaders from Sosian Ward pose for a group photo with learners infront of a new ECDE class.

A partnership between the County Government of Laikipia and the Laikipia Nature Conservancy has given birth to a new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centre at Kamnanten village in Sosian Ward.

Two spacious classrooms have set the project in motion, complete with a water tank installed to harvest rainwater for a healthy supply for the more than 100 young learners.

The opening ceremony was led by acting Education CECM Stephen Kisorio and area MCA Lekopien Parletto.

Kisorio encouraged residents to make the most of the facility, revealing that his department is working on a plan to furnish the classrooms through the vocational training centres.

Njuki Mahiga, Chief Officer of Tourism, commended the Laikipia Nature Conservancy for choosing to celebrate World Tourism Day by generously donating the two new classrooms to the community.

He emphasized that the benefits of tourism extend to the entire community, and the new ECDE centre stands as a testimony to the positive outcomes of strong partnerships with conservancies.

Sveva Gallmann, Director of the Gallman Memorial Foundation, urged the community to prioritize peace as meaningful development cannot occur without it.
