Kisii County secondary schools principals have been transferred yet again after the short midterm breaking this month with the most affected area being Kenyenya Sub-county that has seen two principals transferred to head new stations.
The first to be affected in the recent transfers is Mr. George Onyando of Randani Secondary School who swapped positions with Mr. Ezra Okenye of Mokomoni Secondary School in Nyamira County.
Education News is reliably informed that Mr. Onyando transferred because of internal conflicts with his support staff who claimed of missing their salaries for six months. However, it could not establish the authenticity of the allegations as the principal declined to comment on the matter.
Also affected in the sudden transfers was the principal of Nyamiobo Secondary School who will relocate to Nyachogochogo High School in Nyamira County.
Speaking about the transfers, the incoming Kenyenyeya Sub-county Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Chairperson Mr. David Osoro said that the transfers interfered with his executive members as he revealed that his processor Mrs. Tabitha Mogonchi was transferred to Riambase Secondary School one year ago and wondered how the treasurer Mr. Onyando was transferred soon afterwards, a move that he said, crippled the association.
“Most of our members have gone on transfers and this keeps on destabilizing our association,” he said.
Mr. Osoro asked his members to remain united and keep on building the association to achieve its noble objectives of strengthening their profession in the development of education.
Kenyenya Sub-county Director of Education Mr. Grorge Ouma confirmed the transfers, saying that TSC works hand in hand with the Ministry of Education to better the education of children across the country. He said that teachers like any other civil servant were obliged to work anywhere in the country depending on the arising needs.
“The TSC has the mandate to transfer its employees to any place for them to discharge services, let the public not perceive the Ministry of Education and the TSC as their enemies,” said Ouma.
The officer, who took offer from Mr. Anthony Barasa last year, expressed his satisfaction with the unity of teachers in Kenyenya Sub-county. He asked them to continue with the same spirit as they prepared the candidates for the examinations during this trying moments of the Covid-19 disease outbreak.
