Clergy in Nakuru County have told students in education institutions to avoid being trap by sex pests and instead concentrate in their education.
The clergy said many students have met with negative predicaments of pest sex like early pregnancy and contacted with sexually transmitted diseases(STIS) which have killed their academic dreams and undermine their parents hope and moral support on them.
Led by Rev. Paul Rono of Deliverance church In Ngata estate Rongai Constituency,Nakuru County,the Clergy urged students to only concentrate in education in order to fulfil their dreams and give their parents hope.
“Your parents are sacrifying themselves to ensure you get quality education,some of them sell their properties such as land to educate you,you will only achieve that dream if you stay away from sex pest whose main aim is to drain your future”,said Rev.Rono.
Clergy said that it is very sad to see a bright girls who is a university material being impregnated hence getting a D plain in KCSE instead of an A plain.
“If you are impregnated by sex pest in form two and you were getting grade A,the situation you will be passing and time that you will be wasting may make you to get grade D plain by the time you will reach Form Four and seat for your KCSE,now the best thing to do is to avoid immoral behaviors and maintain your grade A in KCSE which will land you to a university”, said Rev.Rono.
He reminded girls that the 2010 constitution have guarantee them employment by implementing two -third gender rule and that will only benefit girls who work hard and excel in education but not girls who fail examination.
“Take advantage of the currents Kenya constitution and work and pass examinations so that if you go for a job interview,you will be considered and secure your employment”, said the Clergy.
He also warned boys to avoid behaviors that may hinder their performance in education institutions.
“Boy child is not spared,we as clergy we are aware of the challenges that they are facing,and we would like to tell them to pass them with confident and excel in education”, said Rev.Rono.
He told all students to become discipline and concentrate in education for them to pass their examinations and pray God to help them achieve their dreams because if they keep their body holy, God will not let them down.
According to the report form health ministry between January and February this year, Kenya recorded a total number of 45,700 early pregnancies among adolescent girls across the country.
Early teenage sexual activities have also led to an increase in new HIV infections among teens in the country.
In January and February this year, Kenya has recorded 98 new cases of HIV every week among girls aged 10 and 19 years.
This is an improvement compared to more than 343 new HIV cases every week among young girls that were reported in 2015.
