A fundraiser held in support of the family of the late Munyuki Secondary School principal, Simon Isiaho Shange, turned into a powerful call for accountability as community leaders urged investigators to provide clear answers regarding his murder.
During the emotional event, attended by local leaders including the Kakamega governor, Kenya National Security Workers Union Secretary General Isaack Andabwa raised concerns about the pace and handling of the investigation.
He questioned inconsistencies surrounding the case, including claims that CCTV cameras at the deceased’s home were allegedly disabled on the night he was killed.
Andabwa urged authorities to address what he described as gaps in the probe, saying the family and the community deserved transparency and closure.
“Mwalimu Shange will not be laid to rest comfortably in our hearts until the truth is fully uncovered,” he said, calling for professionalism from investigative agencies and encouraging residents to remain vigilant in demanding justice.
He further rallied community members to stand together, emphasizing that unity and persistent public pressure were essential to ensuring a credible investigation.
His remarks energized the event, prompting increased contributions toward supporting the bereaved family.
Andabwa also referenced a planned community-led justice initiative that aims to petition relevant authorities and push for progress in the case.

The organizers say the drive, which is expected to involve peaceful assemblies and signature collection, is intended to amplify the community’s voice rather than target any specific individual.
The murder of Principal Shange has unsettled the wider Lugari region, with residents calling on law enforcement to expedite investigations and communicate more openly about developments.
The authorities have not commented on the concerns raised during the fundraiser. Shange was remembered as a dedicated educator whose leadership had transformed Munyuki Secondary School.
His death has left a significant gap in the community, and residents say they will continue seeking answers until justice is served.
