Bungoma County commissioner Samuel Kimiti has directed all assistant chiefs, security chairpersons in different areas and chiefs to ensure that all learners who sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCPE) get admitted to their schools of choice.
Addressing residents in Bumula Constituency during the commissioning of the 100 beds maternity wing by Bungoma County Governor, Wycliffe Wangamati, Kimiti urged parents to liaise well with school heads where their learners were selected to join Form One, adding that parents can take monetary items to cater for fees.
“Parents should not stay at home with their learners. What they should do is to liaise with school heads and find ways how they can raise fees,” he said, adding that in some schools parents are taking their cereals, firewood, bricks for those schools doing construction and beans to cater for fees.
Kimiti urged education kitty organizations to identify bright but needy students in wards in order to help them join secondary schools.
“County governments and other education kitties should fund bright but needy students, let’s support our own children to ensure that in the future, the region has all kinds of professionals,” Kimiti urged.
He added that to obtain a 100 percent transition, local administrators have been asked to ensure that all 2021 KCSE students are in class.
“We want to support the government’s policy in ensuring that all learners join form one,” he said.
