Commissioner decries high abuse of illicit brews

Nyamira County Commissioner Mr. Michael Lesimam has expressed concern that many residents from the area use illegal beer.

Addressing the public in Nyamira town, Lesimam said high drug usage hinders the growth of the education sector in the region.

He went on to add that parents who brew and sell illicit beer should instead engage in legal businesses like vegetable farming.

“You can take loans from Saccos to start small scale business to start businesses of other forms,” he said.

He took the opportunity to urge the public to support CBC.

He also asked parents whose children haven’t joined secondary schools to enroll them in vocational institutes to enable them acquire skills that will enable them fit into the local job market.

“The modern world of technology calls for people who are well equipped with viable skills,” he advised.

The commissioner asked the public to report the chiefs or their assistants who do not preach the importance of education in their areas of justification.
