Commissioner asks parents to take their children to school

By Tony Wafula

Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti has urged parents to use the week added by the government and take their children to school for admission.

Kimiti added that it’s a crime for parents to allow students to stay at home yet the government has fully embarked on a one hundred percent transition program.

The county commissioner appealed to youths to embrace technical institutions that are government sponsored so as to acquire skills that will help them get into self-employment.

Director of Secondary Schools at the Ministry of Education Paul Kibet said that despite a huge number of form ones being enrolled, others were yet to be enrolled.

He directed all school principals to admit learners reporting, including those who may not have the full school fees.

Secondary schools are grappling with congestion due to the implementation of the 100 per cent transition policy.

A recent survey conducted by Education news, established that most principals have converted laboratories, stores and library buildings into classrooms and dormitories to cope with the huge number of students.
