Residents and education stakeholders in the coastal region have been urged to come together in a bid to improve infrastructure in schools to uplift academic performance in the region.

Speaking during an education meeting held at Wakala Girls secondary school in Magarini Sub County, Kilifi County recently, the Coast regional Security Coordinator, Mr. John Elung’ata lamented that many primary and secondary schools in the region still lack physical learning facilities, thus forcing pupils and students to learn under an environment that is not conducive.

“Lack of necessary learning facilities always contribute to dismal performance of our schools in the national examinations in the region”, he noted.

Elung’ata further said if all the education stakeholders were directly involved in various school development plans then a high level of education standards could be realized in the region.

The officer added that drastic measures should be taken by all education stakeholders to avail the essential learning facilities in schools to enhance effective teaching and learning processes.

Mr. Elung’ata however asked parents in the region to take the education of their children seriously, arguing that the region’s rapid development entirely depended on educated people who will be charged with the responsibility of designing, planning and implementing community development projects.

He asked students to exercise a high degree of discipline both in school and at home noting that discipline was the only key factor towards their success in their final national examinations.

He asked teachers, students and parents to work together in order to help schools post impressive results in the 2021 Kenya certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education ( KCSE ) Examinations respectively.

He pleaded with residents and Well-wishers in Magarini Sub County to help put up a dormitory for girls at Wakala Girls Secondary School to aid the young girls learn effectively.

At the same time, he asked Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS), well Wishers and even individuals in the region to come forward and volunteer to help put up modern infrastructure in schools to enhance education levels in the region.
