Church acknowledged for role in transforming society

Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi has lauded the church for the important role of transforming communities through religion and education.

He said that most churches through their family life programmes help to promote peace, love and unity, which are the main pillars of growth in any progressive society.

“All communities that have come up and prospered are those that embraced religion and education,” he said.

He asked parents and teachers to guide children towards the acquisition of quality education by fearing God, who is the beginning of knowledge.

The administrator was addressing a congregation at Magena New Life SDA Church on Saturday in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency where he helped to raise funds for the renovation of the church.

Oyagi was flanked by nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri, among several secondary school principals, and area Members of County Assembly.

The Senator urged parents to treat all children equally by equitably supporting them to get education, saying the days are long past when girls were confined to the kitchen.

She advised those youth who did not qualify for university to join TVETs to acquire skills that will enable them get employment.

Over one million shillings was raised, with the County Commissioner donating 250,000 shillings.
