The Chuka University students have come together to celebrate diversity, identity, and tradition as the University marks its colorful Cultural Week.

The event which kicked off on Saturday March 30, has seen the university community coming together to celebrate one another.

Participants have embraced the festive spirit, many dressing in jerseys of their favorite football clubs, adding a modern twist to the cultural showcase.

“This is one of the most exciting weeks on campus. It allows us to celebrate who we are while also appreciating other cultures,” said one student during the opening day activities.

The lively gathering began at Gate C, where participants captured photos and videos to mark the start of the celebrations. The procession then moved through Gate D, led by Professor Gilbert Nduru, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who stood out in a Manchester United F.C. jersey.

Speaking during the procession, Prof. Nduru commended the students’ efforts, saying, “Cultural Week is a powerful reminder of our rich heritage and the unity we share as a university community.”

The procession included a tour of traditional houses constructed by students as part of a cultural competition. The displays, representing various communities, highlight unique lifestyles and heritage practices.

“The creativity and dedication seen in these cultural exhibits are truly remarkable,” Prof. Nduru added. “They reflect both pride in identity and a commitment to learning from one another.”

The celebrations are set to continue tomorrow with a special High School Edition, where students will dress in their former school uniforms. Organizers say the event is intended to evoke nostalgia and celebrate educational journeys.

Meanwhile, the university community also gathered yesterday at the Pavilion Grounds to witness the unveiling of two new buses added to the institution’s transport fleet.

“This is a significant boost to our transport system and will greatly improve mobility for our students and staff,” a university official noted.

As the week progresses, excitement continues to build, with participants expressing optimism that the event will leave lasting memories and strengthen community bonds.
