Fear has gripped Kabiyet in Nandi County following a string of child abductions. Five children have reportedly been abducted while heading or coming from school since the beginning of the year.

Although no cases of injury or murder have been reported, the children were later found abandoned in different parts of the county.

Led by Emily Siror and Janet Kogo, the parents expressed alarm over the trend, warning that it is instilling fear among learners.

“Abduction of children has been going on here, and this is worrying. Despite reporting the matter before, no action has been taken,” observed Kogo.

The parents are now calling for heightened security patrols and urgent investigations to apprehend those behind the abductions, emphasising that the safety of children must be given top priority.

“This is becoming a major threat to our children’s safety. Some are even scared of going to school. We have reported the matter to the relevant authorities, but there have been no arrests so far,” said Siror.

However, Area Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Maryanne Etyang said no formal complaints have been filed with her office, urging affected parents to report the incidents officially so that immediate action can be taken.
