CEMASTEA to kick off JSS teachers training in Migori

sCentre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) has kicked off countrywide training for Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers in a move to equip them with pedagogical skills during the Apri-May holiday.

In a circular seen by Education News dated March 17, 2023, Migori County will conduct the training for JSS teachers for four days at St. Abert Ulanda Girls Secondary School and Isibania Boys High School in two batches.

The first batch will kick off on Tuesday April 25 to Friday April 28 in Ulanda while the the second batch will commence on Tuesday, April 2 to Friday May 5 May in Isibania.

“In line with its mandate stipulated in the guidelines for implementation of JSS, CEMASTEA is rolling out the training on Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) for JSS teachers,” the report read in part.

The circular which was signed by Jacob Onyiego, the Migori County Director of Education, reminded participants that they will be paid a daily allowance of Ksh 2, 000 for the four days to enable them find their own accommodation close to the training venues.

At the same time, each participant will be paid a return allowance as per the approved budget for JSS training.

Also, participants are encouraged to carry smart phones and a copy of available text book in any learning area.

The circular was copied to the Sub County Directors of Education, and all JSS principals in Migori County.
