The G-CDF committee in Budalangi Constituency led by MP Raphael Wanjala has undertaken the construction of new primary and secondary schools, addressing a critical shortage of educational institutions in the region.

This initiative has garnered widespread support from parents, students, and education stakeholders, especially in Bunyala North Ward, where students were previously compelled to attend schools in neighbouring Siaya County.

“Prior to this effort, the constituency had only nine secondary schools, raising concerns within the education sector,” Wanjala mentioned.

He also noted that the committee has successfully completed the construction of two new high-rise secondary schools, thereby increasing the number of secondary schools from nine to eleven, with more in the planning stages.

“Furthermore, the constituency is home to 42 primary schools, and the project includes the establishment of new institutions, such as Munani Primary School in Ruambwa Sub-location, St. Michael Sisenye Mixed School, and Peter Habenga Okondo Secondary School, among others,” Wanjala stated.

Residents expressed their gratitude for these efforts. John Mukudi, a resident of Namalo village, praised the construction of Peter Habenga Okondo Secondary School, which enabled his children to attend a nearby school, reducing their commute to Nyambare Secondary School in Siaya County.

Similarly, Lucy Odongo, a resident of Munani village, commended the construction of a new primary school in the area, eliminating the need to send her children to Goro Primary School in Alego/Usonga Constituency, Siaya County.

The MP further emphasized his commitment to building more primary and secondary schools in Bunyala Sub County to ensure that children no longer have to travel long distances to access education.
