CBO donates sanitary pads, socks to a school in Kisii

‘Children Sweetness of Love,’ a dedicated Community Based Organization (CBO), has donated sanitary pads and socks to fifty girls and fifty boys in Ebiosi Mixed Secondary School in Bobasi constituency, Kisii County.

The CBO’s founder, Rebecca Kemunto, said that the inspiration to initiate the CBO was rooted in her own challenging past as she personally understands the trials and tribulations that poverty and peer pressure can impose on the youth.

Kemunto’s experience of becoming a mother at the tender age of 16 due to these circumstances fueled her unwavering determination to prevent others from suffering the same fate.

She recounted that this mission began when sheworked in Saudi Arabia, where she diligently sent funds back home to her father, Gilbert Kanani, and her mother, Jane Mokeira.

“The funds were earmarked for purchasing sanitary pads for young girls from disadvantaged families,” Rebecca stated.

Additionally, she lamented that the boy-child has been neglected and stressed that it is high time to rectify this imbalance.

“Through mentoring and guidance, the CBO aims to steer the students away from destructive paths, deterring them from drug abuse, illicit brew, and immoral activities that can jeopardize their futures,” Rebecca highlighted.

She further stressed that the community and stakeholders must collectively instil moral values in the youth to nurture their growth and tap into their potential.

Kemunto also extended an earnest appeal to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to extend their support to the boy-child, emphasizing that they, too, face unique challenges that require attention and resolution to promote their growth.
