Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), Trainer of trainers, retooling has kicked off as Curriculum support officers and sub county directors who are the main trainers of trainees voice their displeasure in the manner in which TSC is handling them on their reimbursement, expressing disappointment over the delay.
The usually jovial trainers of trainees, started their three day training with low gear in most venues. Unlike in the past where the trainers would report in good numbers during the opening day, some centers in Western, Nyanza, Central, Rift valley and Eastern saw trainers arriving for the training two to three hours late .
Confusion was also evident in some counties on the exact schools to host the Tot’s training. In one county in Western Kenya, master trainers had to travel over 50 km to a venue that hosted last December training; only to be returned back by the principal as the school had no information about them hosting the event this April.
As reported earlier by Education news, most schools are running away from hosting TSC affiliated trainings due to over delay in reimbursement which always affect the institutions programs.
TSC was noted to have scaled down the number of Curriculum support officers for Special Needs Education (CsoSNE) Tot’s due to small number of trainees earmarked for April retooling.
This has seen a number of the officers remain in their stations as the selected few went on with training which is usually, conducted at regional level as residential training.
Despite it being residential, CsoSNE have always lamented on Commission’s non consideration on transport and accommodation facilitation. This has always seen them reimbursed like their regular colleagues.
In a paradigm shift, TSC from the information Education news is privy to, has this time round decided to consider CsoSNE plea. The commission has adopted the, Center for Mathematics Science and Technology Education in Africa (Cemastea) residential training reimbursement mode to cater for CsoSNE training. This is expected to raise the already dampened spirits that was caused by their travelling outside their counties and failed to be considered for accommodation and transport at regional trainings.
Education News has also learnt that, the commission is working round the clock to ensure that this April’s reimbursement is made as early as next month (May) as the delay has seen the commission lose experts from Cemastea, KICD, KNEC and MoE who opted to go for other engagements that are friendlier than TSC organized ones.
