Catholic University reaches out to potential students in the North-Rift

By Martin Ruto

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) is in the mission of promoting and urging form four leavers who qualify to join university to join CUEA as it offers the best courses to suit their market needs.

“CUEA nurtures students holistically;” these were the words of the CUEA chaplain Fr. Michael Rop while addressing students and parents in West Pokot County.

Speaking during a fundraising in aid of St. John’s Catholic Church Lityei in Makutano Parish, Fr. Rop said a student joining the university will graduate within the planned time as strikes and other disruptions are virtually non-existent.

Fr. Rono also said that there is a cordial relationship between the university management and the students, which ensures that disputes are resolved promptly and amicably.

CUEA students president Alvin Muhanji said the university boasts quality teaching and learning that has lasted 38 uninterrupted years.

Others who accompanied the priest Fr. Michael Rono included Mercy Mutheu, a student, and Doris Simiyu, the librarian.

On his part, Bishop Anthony Maurice Crowley of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale urged the pastoralist communities in North Rift to stop the out-dated practice of cattle rustling. The bishop urged parents to instead take their children to school so that they will have an opportunity to transform the life of their community.

“Cattle rustling has caused untold suffering, loss of many lives and properties amongst the pastoral communities,” Bishop Crowley added.
