Cases of sodomy worry Machakos residents

By Lydia Ngoolo

At least two cases of sodomy are being reported weekly in Machakos County.

Machakos Sub-County children’s officer Emily Kimanzi said that many of these cases are committed by close family members.

“These cases are common in boarding schools and there is need for school heads to have a keen eye for the safety of the students. It is so devastating for a parent to learn later that their boys have been
sodomised. It’s unfortunate that many of them keep it as a secret,” she said.

She called upon parents to take care of their children during this December holiday and be close to them to notice any change in behaviour. Recently a boy age eight was sodomised in the area.
