Kisumu is set for a major boost with the entry of Longridge International School and Two Giraffes Bilingual Crèche into the city.

The learning institution will also, in the process, introduce the Cambridge system of learners.

According to the director, Wilberforce Kidavi, Longridge will help learners position themselves globally in these changing times.

Speaking at the institution within Millimani area in Kisumu, Kidavi said the Cambridge system of education prepares learners to be international leaders in addition to nurturing their talents.

Kidavi indicated that the system also nurtures talent among learners.

He said they will work in partnership with Two Giraffes Bilingual Creche to promote French teaching and learning among young learners.

Kidavi said their vision is to expand a network of high-quality bilingual schools.

“We strive to prepare young learners to be globally aware, culturally grounded, and academically excellent,” he said.

Promoting French, a widely spoken and influential language worldwide, Kidavi said, is central to this mission.

“With the new campus in Kisumu and a successful crèche in Nairobi, Longridge International is now expanding with a project of a branch in Nairobi,” he said.

The chairman of the parents’ association in Kisumu County, Edwin Ndege, while welcoming the venture, noted that it will lift Kisumu to the next level globally.

Ndege called on the management to ensure that the school environment is friendly to learners.

He said the new system should be aligned with competency-based education.

Earlier, Kidavi urged teachers to take up foreign languages and international studies seriously.

Kidavi said the country lacks such teachers, hence the need for them to take them up.

A spot-check at the learning institution revealed that each class will have some ten learners, while every class will also have its own toilet.
