CAK paints importance of safeguarding ICT consumer rights

The Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK), Ezra Chiloba has pointed out the importance of ICT consumers as the core market actor in the sector.

He added that the rights of the users need to be keenly observed.

Speaking in Kisumu, Chiloba stated that with digitization, there is a risk of secluding people who can hardly access smart devices. He issued a clarion call to manufacturers to provide incentives for vulnerable consumers.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Owili who represented Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at the event pointed out that Kisumu County looks forward to automating most of the services offered to the residents.

A tracking system, he added, which was created using an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS) platform, will enable suppliers and service providers to track the progress of their payment vouchers in the comfort of their homes

Representatives of Safaricom and Airtel companies had an opportunity to express their goals as mobile service providers giving much credit to the Communications Authority Of Kenya which promised to partner to ensure the quality of services.

The Education sector has hugely benefitted from the strides that are being made by the ICT industry as a whole.
