Friends School Bwake Boys from Cherangany Trans-Nzoia Sub-County has warned its opponents of a tough encounter during the Rift Valley Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) regional games starts tomorrow.

The team will represent Trans-Nzoia in the high school title games in the Valley Region.

The Boys won the County title by edging out last year’s champions St Anthony Boys Kitale by 12-0 in a fierce final.

Bwake earned a spot in the finals after defeating St Joseph’s Boys by 17-10 in a game played at Sabawni Boys school field at Endebess Sub County.

Coach Cleophas Mikisi said his team has gained the strength to be able to face opponents in any way.

He claimed that St. Anthony’s took them out of the finals last year due to injuries suffered by its best players.

School principal John Masinde Mukongolo congratulated the boys and encouraged them as they prepared to represent the County while asking them to maintain discipline.

Speaking to them at the school training ground, Mukongolo encouraged them by telling them that unity is strength.

He said:  “If you maintain the teamwork which you displayed in all the games from the zone to the county, I believe the title will be ours this year”

This Rugby team was formed in 2012 and started to grow in 2017 when they reached the regional semis. In 2018, they won the County title and finished number three in the Valley region and number four nationally.

In 2019 they were defeated in the final by St Joseph’s Boys Kitale. In 2020, they were crowned county champions after beating St Joseph’s but the games could not continue, they were suspended due to Covid 19.

In 2022, Bwake Boys lost to St Anthony 14-12 in the fierce final played at St Joseph’s Kitale stadium.

“My boys are fine today, we are finishing training so that we are ready for the trip to Nyahururu. I have no doubts about them. I have been monitoring their training and have already corrected them” said Mukongolo.
