Amagoro Comprehensive School in Busia County has settled for storeyed classrooms to be fully funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund Teso North Constituency as its major priority.
The decision was reached after a meeting of the school Board of Management that was convened following a stalemate between learners and parents on what priority project the school wanted NG CDF to execute as its first priority.
Teso North Member of Parliament, MP Dr. Oku Kaunya, who had presided over the handing over ceremony of two classrooms courtesy of CDF and valued at Ksh2.1million, received mixed reactions from learners and parents on which top priority project they wanted CDF to execute for them.
The MP first asked the learners which priority project they wanted CDF to undertake at the school. They were unanimous that the MP buys for them a school bus.
Dr. Oku then turned to parents on which priority project they wanted CDF to implement at the premier learning institution. They said they want storeyed classrooms.

It was through that stalemate that the MP mandated the school board to meet and write to him on which is their first priority project and the second.
The school principal and BOM secretary, Ronald Orodi, revealed on Wednesday that the board sat and settled on storeyed classrooms as their priority project, noting that they have already communicated to the MP regarding the same.
“The BOM was of the view that construction of storeyed classrooms at the learning institution is worthwhile as it will attract more learners, which will be a big plus for them,” Orodi said.
However, Dr. Oku put the record straight that the implementation of both projects is subject to availability of funds, but one project is tenable.
BoM chair, Hellen Etyang, said the board was unanimous that a building is a permanent asset, adding that the school bus can come later.
