Teachers from across Busia County yesterday gathered at St. Monica Chakol Girls Senior School for an exciting Experience AI retooling session, aimed at equipping educators with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence (AI).
The one-day event provided participants with access to the Experience AI platform, a collaborative initiative developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind.
Teachers not only explored the wealth of resources available but were also given the opportunity to train their own AI models, enhancing their understanding of AI technologies and applications.
Speaking at the launch,Beatrice Odongo, Curriculum Support Officer for Teso South, representing the Ministry of Education and Teachers Service Commission, emphasized the importance of AI in modern education.
“This initiative equips teachers with the knowledge and confidence to integrate AI into the classroom, inspiring our young people to explore one of the most exciting fields of the 21st century,” she said.
The event also featured a special appearance by Afandi I., a representative of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, who highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering educators and students through accessible technology.
The session was made possible through the efforts of lead trainers Malik Logonze, Ian Mwagi, and Dolfin Ogutu, whose guidance enabled participants to gain practical, hands-on experience with AI.
