Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County has been recognized as the best-managed technical institute in Kenya, with President William Ruto commending its leadership and prudent administration.

The President honoured institute management led by Principal Judith Sande, for their role in steering the institution to national prominence, describing the institute’s management as “efficient, disciplined, and a model for other institutions.”

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Governors, Chairperson Prof. Okumu Bigambo said the recognition reflects the combined efforts of staff, students, and management. “President Ruto’s commendation validates the disciplined and visionary leadership that has positioned Matili Technical Training Institute at the forefront of technical education,” he said.

The institute, which currently enrolls over 10,000 students, has grown steadily to become one of Kenya’s largest technical institutions. Its development has been supported by investments in infrastructure, modern facilities, and a range of academic programs designed to equip students with skills that meet the needs of Kenya’s labor market.

Under Principal Sande’s leadership, the institute has maintained a culture of accountability and innovation. Programs are regularly updated to align with industry requirements, while modern teaching technologies have improved learning outcomes and operational efficiency.

Education experts say the presidential recognition not only raises the profile of Matili Technical Training Institute but also highlights the importance of good governance in Kenya’s education sector. The accolade is expected to motivate staff and students to continue maintaining high standards and to serve as a benchmark for other institutions.

With a growing student population, ongoing infrastructure expansion, and national recognition, Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County is poised to remain a leading center of technical education in Kenya.
