Nabichakha Friends Secondary School Board of Management (BOM) has appealed to both the national and county governments to urgently come to the fore and safe the institution from imminent shut down.
The appeal comes in the wake of collapsed pit latrines caused by heavy rains and storm a couple of days ago.
Speaking to Education News the school’s BOM chair, Eliphas Wesangula flanked by the principal, Clement Magana and PA chair William Khaemba, appealed to Kanduyi NG-CDF office and Bungoma County Government to move with speed and assist the school.
“Both levels of government should address this issue with the urgency it deserves so that nobody contemplates to shut down the school on the basis of lack of adequate latrines,” the BOM chair said.
Wesangula disclosed that the collapsed latrines were serving 180 boys adding that as the school management they cannot allow boys to use the Girls latrines for security reasons.
The Mixed Day school is a sub-county status and was the most improved school in Bungoma County in the 2020 KCSE exam as it managed to send three students to university out of 25 students who sat the exam.
However, during the 2021 KCSE exam, the school managed to send only one student to university with several others qualifying for Diploma and certificate courses.
