Bungoma KUPPET slams KNUT for pulling out of strike

KUPPET teachers in Bungoma take to the streets during the protests.

Kenya Union of Post-Primary Teachers (KUPPET) Bungoma branch has slammed the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) for calling off their strike noting that this had reduced the impact of the industrial action.

The branch, led by branch Executive Secretary Augustine Kundu and Chairman David Barasa, were addressing the press at Bungoma High School during their protests as they joined colleagues across the country to push the government to act on their grievances.

Lukelelo urged the government to fast-track their demands, especially the employment of 26,000 Junior Secondary School teachers on a permanent basis.

He lamented that the government had enough money but most of it was being squandered through corruption scandals.

The Chairman further urged parents not to release their children to school since teachers will not report to schools until their demands are met.
