ECDE TRAINING

To ensure no child is left behind, the County government of Bungoma through the Department of Education in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is committed to prioritizing ECDE and pre-primary education.

Speaking in his office when he met UNICEF Education officer Stanley Akire on Friday, the CEC for Education David Wamamili said that the County government of Bungoma has partnered with UNICEF to support and train Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers on the competency-based curriculum (CBC).

Wamamili said that a team of trainers of trainers (TOTs) will be trained so as to train the local education officers and teachers who are conversant with matters of education within the county.

He said that the training will be continuous to ensure that everybody is conversant with the CBC curriculum.

“UNICEF will also ensure constant facilitation of learning and teaching material and equipment for the success of the training.

CBC is a practical-oriented program that requires a lot of materials for its success,” Wamamili stated.

The CEC lauded the move by UNICEF to train the ECDE teachers calling on them to support the program.

On his part, Akire affirmed that UNICEF will train ECDE teachers on professional development in remote learning and how to provide Sycho-social support to vulnerable children in Bungoma and its environs.

Akire said that UNICEF is a non-governmental organization that works to provide quality learning opportunities that prepare children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

“By partnering with the County government of Bungoma many children from needy homes will have a chance to start a journey of education to the University level,” Akire added.
