Bungoma 2022 KCPE candidate stranded at home due to lack of fees

Vanecious Nasimiyu Wanjala, a 2022 KCPE candidate risks missing a form one slot at Ahero Secondary school due to lack of finances.

The 14-year-old girl, who hails from Kaptanai village, Sirisia constituency in Bungoma county, scored 345 marks at Kaptanai Primary school.

However, she has not been able to proceed because her single mother, who depends on menial jobs to sustain them, cannot afford to pay the required school fees.

The mother, Maureen Nyongesa, is thus appealing to well-wishers to help her raise school fees for her daughter to join Form One.

In an interview with the press on Friday, Nasimiyu said that she risks missing out on pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

“Since primary school, I’ve been very determined to become a doctor but it seems impossible as until now I haven’t joined Form One,” she said.

Nasimiyu revealed that she tried applying for both the Bungoma county scholarship and Elimu scholarship but she was not fortunate enough to secure a chance.

Kaptanai Primary school deputy head teacher, John Mutete expressed confidence in the academic performance of Nasimiyu and reiterated the call for well-wishers to sponsor her.
