Bumula Member of Parliament Mwambu Mabonga has handed over Sh1 million to Kabula Primary School in Kabula ward of Bumula Constituency for infrastructural development. The school was built in 1946 and has never received a facelift or renovated before.
Speaking to Education News-Digital while at the school grounds, the area MP said that he decided to remember the school because it had lagged behind on infrastructural developments.
The Ruto allied MP trashed his opponents who were seeking to unseat him in the next year’s general polls to stop politicking developments within the constituency and instead tell Bumula electorates what they will do for them.
Among those seeking to topple him from the constituency seat include former MP Wakoli Bifwoli, Bungoma County KUPPET Executive Secretary Augustine Luketelo and politicians Wanami Wamboka.
“People should come clearly and tell you what they will do if given the chance to serve as Bumula MP, let us not bank so much on lies but speak the truth of the matter, I have uplifted education sector within this constituency,” he said.
The MP reminded his constituents that when took over the constituency seat, most schools had mud walls but so far over 50 secondary and primary schools have storey buildings.
He lauded school heads in Bumula for the wonderful job they are doing to ensure that students post excellent results at the end of their primary and secondary course.
Mwambu pointed out that Bumula was the biggest constituency in Bungoma County and it gets the same allocation as other constituencies therefore residents should stop comparing the developments done by his NG-CDF.
“You cannot equate Bumula with other constituencies in Bungoma and in Kenya. I have many schools to serve among other NG-CDF projects,” he said, adding that he will continue building schools in his constituency that will give a decent environment for teachers and students to learn.
Mabonga lauded Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati for initiating scholarships that have seen many students realize their dreams.
“We have many scholarship programs in Bungoma and the country at large therefore it is the job of students to work hard. Bright but needy students will be supported to join schools of their choice,” he added.
