75 bright but needy students from Bomet East have received full scholarships amounting to Ksh3 million from area bursary kitty.

Area MP Richard Yegon said the scholarships will go a long way in enabling the students continue with their education.

Speaking during the scholarship award, he noted that beneficiaries include total orphans, partial orphans and Mau Forest evictees.

“The beneficiaries include total orphans, partial orphans and those evicted from Mau. Vetting was done in a fair and transparent manner and I want to assure that partial scholarships will be flagged off soon,” he noted.

According to him, Ksh50 million has been set aside for bursaries.

Yegon rooted for concerted efforts to boost academic levels in the area, further urging parents to ensure they pay fees on time to keep their children in school

“I appeal for concerted efforts to boost academic levels in this constituency. You can’t blame one party yet you don’t play your role as required. As a result, I want to ask parents to ensure they pay fees on time,” said Yegon.

The beneficiaries could not hide their joy, promising to work hard in school.
