Diesel Mumo, a 2022 KCPE candidate on Friday joined Kangundo High School after Machakos County Deputy Governor, Francis Mwangango, came to his aid.

Mumo got 349 marks after siting his KCPE at Manga Primary School but was unable to join high school due to lack of funds.

The young boy said that his parents were unable to get funds for his schooling and on March 8 everything changed after he approached DG Mwangangi.

Mwangangi pledged to pay his fees for the four years he will be in high school.

“I was devastated because my mates were in school while I was at home. On Wednesday, I went to People’s Park during the International Women’s Day celebrations where the Deputy Governor had an event. I approached him and told him about my problem. He promised to pay my school fee I didn’t believe it until we were called to his office,” narrated the boy.

“I promise to do my best to make my family proud and not fail the DG so that his efforts don’t go to waste,” he added.

His overjoyed mother said her hopes of seeing her kid join high school were shattered but she is now grateful.

“Since he got his results, we have been trying here and there but without any success. I am grateful that my son has joined school and his dreams can be achieved,” she said.
