After months of intensive teaching and curriculum implementation, teachers across Bomet County are taking time to relax, bond, and recharge, thanks to the support of forward-thinking school principals and heads of institutions (HOIs).

Aron Rono, popularly known as Spokesman, has applauded these school leaders for prioritizing teacher welfare, describing outings as essential for staff cohesion and morale.

“After the helter-skelter of the term, it is refreshing for teachers to step out, reflect on their achievements, and connect with colleagues in a relaxed environment,” said Rono, who is a teacher at Lugumek Secondary school.

Rono emphasized the importance of customizing outings to suit the varying sizes and capacities of schools. “Even small gestures go a long way in boosting morale and strengthening teamwork,” he said.

He also urged all teachers’ welfare groups including; CHESSA, BESSA, KONOSSA, SOCCOSSA, Tenderness group, and BOCOSSA, to continue promoting teacher well-being initiatives.

“Staff outings are not just leisure activities; they nurture teamwork, unity of purpose, and social bonds that extend beyond the classroom,” noted Rono, who is also contesting for Bomet KUPPET Branch vice chairperson.

As schools prepare for the conclusion of exams and the end of the academic year, these outings provide a well-deserved break, reminding educators that their dedication is recognized and valued.

Several schools have already organized their outings. Lugumek Secondary School teachers recently visited Kisumu City and met Kamureito Secondary teachers at Dunga Beach, with the warm support of Principal Geofrey Rono.

Gorgor High School staff enjoyed a recreational trip to Oinop Kipkeles in Kericho, where facilities such as a sauna and swimming pool offered both relaxation and team bonding opportunities.

In second term, Ndaraweta Girls’ teachers participated in a team-building exercise at Rays Hotel, Kericho.

During the initiative, principals and leaders emphasized teamwork, unity of purpose, and strengthened interpersonal relationships among staff.
