The Ministry of Education, through the County Education Office in Bomet, has announced a two-day Drama and Film Festivals Workshop scheduled for January 30 and 31, 2026, as preparations intensify for the 2026 Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDF).
According to a circular issued by the County Director of Education, the workshop will take place at Tenwek High School and will bring together teachers, drama patrons and trainers from ECDE centres, primary, junior, secondary schools, as well as tertiary institutions across the county.
The workshop aims to equip participants with critical updates ahead of the upcoming festivals. Key focus areas include familiarising teachers with newly introduced genres in the drama and film festivals and enhancing understanding of the revised rules and regulations governing performance items and adjudication.
Education officials say the training is essential to ensure uniform interpretation of the festival guidelines and to improve the quality of performances expected from Bomet County during the national competitions.
Each participant will be required to contribute Ksh2,000 to cater for facilitation, certificates, snacks, and meals for the two days.

Heads of institutions have been urged to support and facilitate the attendance of teachers and trainers involved in drama and film activities.
The workshop will align with the 2026 KNDF theme, “Bold Storytellers’ Digital Stages, Driving Kenya’s Development through Theatre and Film,” which emphasizes creativity, digital expression, and storytelling as tools for national development, and will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days sessions.
The circular was signed on behalf of the County Director of Education, Bomet County, and copied to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) County Director, underscoring the importance of the workshop in strengthening co-curricular activities within the education sector.
The annual drama and film festivals remain a key platform for nurturing talent, promoting cultural expression and enhancing learner creativity in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum.
