The County Government of Bomet has announced plans to recruit 185 new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers in a move aimed at strengthening the foundation of learning across the region.

Through the Bomet County Public Service Board, the county will hire 185 Assistant ECDE Teacher III officers on permanent and pensionable terms.

The recruitment drive is part of a broader strategy to enhance access to quality early learning and improve teacher-to-learner ratios in ECDE centres.

The county officials say the latest recruitment underscores the administration’s continued commitment to investing in the ECDE sector, which remains a devolved function under county governments.

Over the years, the county has employed more than 1,200 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, significantly stabilizing the workforce and improving service delivery.

In addition to staffing, the county government has also invested heavily in infrastructure development.

More than 400 new ECDE classrooms have been constructed and equipped across the county, providing young learners with a more conducive and child-friendly learning environment.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that increased staffing and improved infrastructure will go a long way in enhancing foundational literacy and numeracy among young children.

Unemployed ECDE teachers across the county have been encouraged to submit their applications online through the Bomet County Public Service Board website at www.cpsbbomet.net.
