Bomet Central residents urged to prioritize education, ensure children attend school

Residents of Bomet Central sub-county have been urged to ensure their children attend school as a pathway to improved livelihoods.

Bomet Central Member of Parliament, (MP) Richard Kilel emphasized that education remains the most reliable avenue for elevating living standards in the community.

Speaking during the commissioning of Kamobiriri Primary School classroom, MP Kilel highlighted the irreplaceable value of education.

“Everything else can be taken from you, including land, but you can fly with your certificates to any place,” he said, urging parents and guardians to take their children’s education seriously.

The lawmaker also called on the youth to embrace skill learning to equip themselves for the competitive global job market.

“Academic achievements open doors beyond local opportunities, enabling young people to explore careers and employment prospects both nationally and internationally.” He said

He urged youth to make use of the available learning resources provided in the country by both the state and private sector to achieve their academic dreams, adding that initiatives such as scholarships, bursaries and digital learning tools should be fully exploited to enhance knowledge and skills.

He also urged parents and the community to support schools by ensuring children attend classes regularly and maintains discipline, which are key factors in academic success.

The legislator reiterated that a well-educated population is critical for the social and economic development of Bomet Central, as it equips young people with the tools to innovate, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to society.

The MP’s message comes at a time when education is increasingly viewed as a catalyst for transforming rural communities.

By prioritizing schooling, residents can empower the next generation with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to secure sustainable livelihoods and compete in an ever-changing global economy.
