As the Covid-19 pandemic takes toll on the economy, teachers teaching in private schools and those employed under BOM have called upon the County Government of Bungoma to cushion them.

They said that since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in Kenya they have not been paid with school owners citing that they have nothing in their accounts.

Speaking to Education News, a representative of BOM teachers in Bungoma County Mr. Victor Khaemba blamed the government for not considering them among the vulnerable groups

”The government has only focused on other sectors forgetting us, therefore, we request KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion and his KEPSA counterpart to intervene,” said Mr. Khaemba.

He added that most BOM and private school teachers lives in rented rooms that need to be paid for at the end of every month hence the need of giving them a shoulder to lean on during the trying and tiring moments of the rising and whirling economic tides.

”We call upon the county government to save the sinking boat,” said Mr Khaemba.

He urged the school directors and principals to push for fund from the government to help them in running school operations like; wages for staff, electricity and water.

Sharing is Caring!
