Masaba North sub-county Boda boda riders Chairman Dominic Babu has said that their efforts to prevent students from riding during the short midterm break has been successful.

He attributed the success to heads of all Boda boda stage who co-operated and implemented the decision.

Babu said that unlike in the past where Boda boda owners employed school boys, they have now ceased the practice after strict warning from his office.

He thanked the Nyumba Kumi groups for spotting and reporting to the police students who tried to dodge their net and enter the business without their parents’ consent.

“Our police officers and residents have co-operated well to see the exercise yield fruits,” he said.

He asked students to learn to take instructions from both teachers and parents in order to shape their character for the future.

“The character formed during your youth determines what you will be when you mature,” he said.

He told them to engage in constructive activities such as joining church choirs and participating in community services and sports instead of indulging in drug abuse.

Babu thanked West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka for convening a security meeting with county administration to lay strategies for the safety of the residents.

He asked Principals to collaborate with communities surrounding their schools to monitor errant students and report them to the police for correction.

Babu further urged any older members who dropped out of school and joined the Boda boda industry to consider returning to school or enrolling into TVET colleges to acquire skills noting that education has no age limit.
