Boda boda, matatu operators warned against preying on school girls

Matatu operators in Kisii County have been cautioned against preying on underage school children, even as schools close for the long December holiday.

Kisii County Education Board Chairman Professor Henry Onderi claimed that some drivers and their touts took school girls to wrong destinations with the intention of defiling them.

Onderi said that some Boda boda riders took advantage of the students who lacked fare to travel home and offered to transport in exchange of sexual intercourse.

“I appeal to the police to arrest and imprison such evil minded men forever,” he said.

The chairman reminded the Matatu and Boda boda operators that they are parents too and they should treat other people’s children like their own.

Concerning the forthcoming national examinations, Onderi cautioned the candidates against involving themselves in any examination malpractices.

“You have to be confident and tackle the examinations with courage and just write what you have learnt,” said Onderi.

The educator reiterated his appeal to shop owners, bars and churches near schools to minimize noise to create a conducive environment for candidates.

Onderi appealed to learners in lower classes to spend the December holiday well by reading new concepts and revising with the intention of expanding their knowledge.
