Beef up security in Lamu ahead of national exams, Govt urged

Lamu County KNUT Executive Secretary, Ibrahim Shaibu

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Lamu County branch Executive Secretary Ibrahim Shaibu has urged the government to intensify regular police patrols in the region to ensure the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams run as scheduled.

Speaking to Education News from Lamu town recently, Shaibu also asked the government to put in place mechanisms to curb any form of exam cheating since engagement in such irregularities would lead to cancellation of exam results, which will consequently affect the morale of learners.

He urged education stakeholders to provide a conducive environment for the candidates to write their exams.
