By Norah Musega.

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has strongly condemned the act which led to the untimely death of two teachers in Kisii county.

KUPPET executive secretary Mr. Joseph Abincha wants the government to beef up security for delocalized teachers in their areas of work saying most of them have died as a result of insecurity caused by their delocalization.

Abincha noted that in the month of July, the county has lost five teachers in unclear circumstances.

“The safety of all teachers must be taken seriously by the government to enable them discharge their duties promptly,’ he said.

He called on the directorate of criminal investigations to move swiftly on the cases so as to bring to book the perpetrators.

Police officers in Kisii have commenced an investigation into the 3 am fire incident which claimed the lives of the teachers.

Addressing the press at the scene ,Kisii county Commissioner Allan Macharia said preliminary report indicates that the duo’s death could have been as a result of gas explosion which consumed the three bed roomed house.

Police have identified the deceased as Mzee Mogoa Moruri, a retired teacher and his wife Florence Moruri, a head teacher at Gekonge Primary. Their bodies have been taken to Kisii referral hospital morgue.
