Baringo TVET colleges to host region’s first digital expo

Baringo county government in collaboration with Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions in the county is set to host the region’s first Digital and Entrepreneurial Expo in November.

Speaking during a meeting with Principals of the institutions, the county’s Director of Vocational Training, Kipkorir Changwony, said plans are underway to host the inaugural event and institutions have already expressed interest to participate in activities scheduled for the expo.

Kipkorir said that all Principals have committed to participate in diverse activities at the expo ranging from talent shows, talk shows and exhibitions urging more students to register.

Baringo National Polytechnic Chief Principal Josphat Kipkemboi said he is fully supporting the event which will impart requisite knowledge to empower and enlighten the youth on opportunities in the digital space.

He said the expo dubbed ‘Chanua Vijana’ also seeks to nurture talents of the youth especially on emerging trends in digital space as well gain employment opportunities in the quarter.

Kipkemboi challenged youth to enroll in TVET institutions in the county noting that the institution’s elevation to national status was an advantage to local youth yearning to acquaint themselves with skills essential in the digital age.

County Chief Officer for Youth Affairs, Gender and Sports, Kimutai Korir, however affirmed county government pledge to fund the sector in a bid to acquire practical competencies and hands-on training to inspire self-reliance.
