The Baringo County Government has come under sharp criticism over its handling of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) programs, with leaders accusing it of neglecting young learners.
Led by Loyamorok MCA Maria Losile, the leaders claimed the county had abdicated its constitutional duty, leaving ECDE learners exposed to numerous challenges.
Speaking to the press, Losile said many ECDE infrastructure projects have stalled despite the allocation of millions of shillings annually.
“Our children are suffering. Many are forced to walk long distances to access education, exposing them to potential danger including insecurity and wild animal attacks,” she said.

Losile emphasized that the poor state of ECDE infrastructure is undermining the foundation of education in the region.
Her sentiments were echoed by Churo/Amaya MCA Diana Siriti, who urged area MPs to join hands in advocating for the rights of young learners.
“It is shameful that in this day and age, children are still forced to share classrooms with older learners due to lack of proper ECDE facilities,” Siriti said.
The leaders are now calling for immediate intervention to complete stalled projects and ensure safe, accessible learning environments for the region’s youngest learners.
